are being sold on Ebay, in antique shops, at bottle shows, and even by other
collectors. The paint on a reproduction bottle can usually be removed by
scraping it with a coin. Don't be afraid to apply some pressure as the
pyroglazing on an authentic bottle will not be affected. No need to test these
1/3 quart bottles as the dairies never used this size. Fake Plains Dairy and
Adams Dairy bottles are turning up in all shapes and sizes so buyer beware. Some
have even been found with very thin stencils applied to blank bottles and they
LOOK to be the real thing! All of the Cowboy Milk bottles found were created
with the thin stencils.
